Doylestown Women's March, Rally To Be Held Sunday

Hundreds are expected in Doylestown Borough this Sunday for the Women to the Front rally and march.

A "Women to the Front" march and rally will be held Sunday, Jan. 21 in Doylestown. It's the second year the march is being held locally. In 2017, more than 2,000 took to the streets of Doylestown to march for women's rights.

Hundreds of Bucks County residents are expected attend the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m. with the Women to the Front Rally at 55 East Court Street in Doylestown Borough.

The rally, which will go until about 12:30 p.m., will feature a "diverse and dynamic" group of women and girls speaking, singing and reading poetry. After the rally, participants will hold a symbolic march to Doylestown’s central intersection at State and Main streets.

"We will carry forward the progressive vision of last year’s historic Women’s March on Doylestown, as one of over 250 women’s marches across the country and globe this weekend," organizers said in an announcement.

The event is organized by Rise Up Doylestown, with dozens of additional organizations partnering to co-sponsor. Local high school students are taking a leading role and will be leading the march, according to organizers.

Organizers say they have placed particular emphasis on making this peaceful march suitable for families with young children.

"This past year we’ve rallied, we’ve marched, we’ve organized, we’ve held town halls, we’ve written postcards, we’ve shown up for municipal meetings to raise our voices and concerns, and we’ve run for office in larger numbers than before. On Sunday, we will celebrate this activism and the raising of our voices and power. We will stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health and our families – recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country and communities. We are part of a women-led movement, bringing together people of all genders, ages, races, cultures, political affiliations and backgrounds," Rise Up Doylestown said in an event announcement.
