The long-running corruption case raised serious questions about oversight of city funds, secret accounts tied to Community Days, and even threatened the consolidation that created the new City of DuBois with Sandy Township.
   

• Retired state trooper charged after crash that killed two in Clearfield County (wtaj.com) — A serious multi-vehicle crash in Pike Township sent one survivor by helicopter to Penn Highlands DuBois and left two others dead, with a retired state trooper now facing homicide-by-vehicle and related charges. DuBois residents may see heightened attention on impaired driving and court proceedings as the case moves toward a preliminary hearing July 29.
   

• Portland Junior All Stars head to East Regionals in Pennsylvania, eye World Series berth (fox23maine.com) — DuBois will host the East Regional Junior All-Star baseball tournament, bringing eight teams of 13- and 14-year-olds from Maine to Washington, D.C. Games start Sunday, with Portland’s squad chasing a World Series berth and families fundraising to cover travel costs.
