In a separate early-Sunday blaze, a Muncy Creek Township man safely escaped a kitchen fire that heavily damaged his mobile home, likely displacing him for weeks.

• Cappelli retires as South Williamsport borough manager (sungazette.com) — South Williamsport’s longtime borough manager Steve Cappelli has retired, ending a tenure that included overseeing a police alliance providing full coverage for neighboring Duboistown. His work also advanced street projects, levee accreditation, and public safety initiatives, while new manager Maria Maddy plans to continue his community-focused approach. Residents can note the next council meeting on June 8.
