Missed Turn Leads to Scary I-78 Crash, Police Say
Emmaus woman is moderately hurt when her SUV goes up an embankment at Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township, troopers report.

An Emmaus woman was moderately injured recently when she went on a wild ride after swerving her vehicle to try to catch a missed turn on Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township, according to police.
Christine L. Hyrowich, 43, was traveling eastbound in the left middle lane at 3:15 p.m. March 2 when she realized that she was about to miss her entrance to eastbound Route 22, according to state police at Fogelsville. Hyrowich yanked her steering wheel to try to make a sudden merge onto the Route 22 on-ramp.
Hyrowich oversteered her GMC Envoy and struck an embankment, police said. Her sport-utility vehicle continued up the embankment, with the rear bumper striking the dip of the base of earth.

The SUV was positioned sideways on the embankment, police said. The vehicle slid down the embankment and came to rest on the berm of Route 22.
Hyrowich was transported to a hospital by Cetronia Ambulance Corps, police said.

She was cited for improperly driving on roadways with travel lanes, police said.
