1. Shapiro invests $38 million in traffic signal upgrades across Pa. (wgal.com) — Ephrata is set to receive $476,795 to fully modernize the traffic signals at North Reading Road and Dutchland Avenue, part of a statewide $38 million Green Light-Go investment. The upgrades aim to improve safety, traffic flow, and pedestrian conditions at this busy intersection. Several neighboring Lancaster County municipalities are also getting significant signal improvements under the same program. 
2. Adult life care facility receives Ephrata Township approvals to start construction by end of summer (lancasteronline.com) — Ephrata Township supervisors have cleared the way for construction of the Caring Acres Community life care facility on West Main Street, approving a key sewage planning exemption. The new two-story building will eventually house up to 48 adults with autism or Asperger’s, offering rooms, dining, activities, and guest suites. Site work is expected to start within the next 30 to 60 days.
3. Furry volunteers help brighten days at WellSpan hospitals (wellspan.org) — Pet therapy dogs are making regular visits to WellSpan Ephrata Cancer Center, offering comfort and distraction to patients and staff during difficult treatments. The story highlights several long-time volunteers across the WellSpan system, including Kathy and her dogs Taylor and Reggie, who focus on brightening days in Ephrata and at Philhaven through simple, powerful interactions.
4. Lancaster County restaurant inspections for July 27-Aug. 2 (spotlightpa.org subscription) — Several Ephrata eateries, including Casa Huerta, Coffeeco Ephrata, Farmersville Auction, Roma Pizza, Scratch Bakes Cafe Brownstown, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Two Cousins Pizza, were cited in the latest round of state food safety inspections. Violations ranged from dirty food containers and labeling issues to improper food temperatures and even cockroach activity, though many problems were corrected on-site.
