Firefighter Challenge National Championship kicks off in Erie (yourerie.com) — Downtown Erie is hosting the Firefighter Challenge National Championships this week, with firefighters from across the U.S. and Canada competing in demanding strength and skills events. Residents are invited to watch for free through Saturday, cheer on participants, and see firsthand how firefighters train to protect their communities.
3. EXCLUSIVE: Man Charged 24-Year-Old Cold Case Back in Erie (erienewsnow.com) — Residents in Erie are seeing a major step forward in the decades-old disappearance of 20-year-old Sabrina Kahler, as suspect David Heck has been extradited from Indiana and formally charged in Greene Township. Disabled Veterans Enjoy Day on Presque Isle Bay (erienewsnow.com) — Disabled veterans from the Erie VA and Soldiers' and Sailors' Home recently spent a day on Presque Isle Bay aboard a newly upgraded, wheelchair-accessible fishing boat. Organized by S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie and Lake Erie Ministries, the outing offered safe cruising, fishing, and a picnic lunch, expanding access so more local veterans can enjoy time on the water.
