Burglary, Fireworks Complaints in Forest Hills

The latest from Forest Hills police.

June 29

  • Police responded to a dispute between a Braddock Road resident and a baseball player who hit a ball into her yard from the Churchill High School field. An officer spoke with the baseball coach, who instructed his players not to enter the yard.

June 30

  • Samuel McGill, 41, of Pittsburgh was arrested and charged with DUI and careless driving after police pulled him over in the Taco Bell parking lot on Ardmore Boulevard. According to the incident report, McGill's truck had been swerving, and he failed field sobriety tests. 
  • Officers assisted North Braddock police in making six arrests.   
  • An officer responded to a report of a barking dog on Sherwood Rd. but heard nothing after sitting in the car for several minutes. 
  • Police received a report of fireworks near Ellmore Road but did not observe anything when they responded.

July 1

  • Officers began investigating a burglary on Sharon Drive reported by a family who had just returned from vacation. Among the items stolen were Wii and XBox 360 video game systems, roughly 50 video games, a diamond engagement ring and a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. The truck was recovered, having been left abandoned after a hit and run in North Braddock. Police are investigating.
  • Police responded to a dispute on Ardmore Blvd. between a driver and her male passenger. An officer sent them away after both declined police involvement, saying it was only a verbal argument.

July 2

  • Police took a woman into custody for DUI after finding her parked in a no-parking zone on Ardmore Blvd. The woman was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital for a mental health evaluation after threatening to commit suicide when she was released.

July 3

  • A man reported fraudulent activity on his credit card after losing his wallet.
  • Police killed a skunk on Sharon Dr. after a caller reported it was possibly rabid.
  • An officer detained a juvenile on Electric Ave., where he was riding a bike he allegedly stole. 
  • An officer responded to a report of fireworks on Bevington Rd. but wasn't able to hear or see any. 

July 4

  • Police received another report of fireworks on Bevington Rd. and, again, did not observe any.

July 5

  • An officer searched the back yard of a house on Braddock Rd. in the early morning after receiving a complaint of fireworks. No one was located.
