Forest Hills Police Investigate Thefts from Yards, Respond to Nearby Shooting

Aug. 9
- A Glasgow Road resident reported that a man wearing a police badge dropped off eviction papers at her home, but police officers who inspected the papers said they weren’t official documents. According to the incident report, the letter appeared to be typewritten, possibly by the property’s Philadelphia-based landlord, but it included neither a name nor a phone number. Police advised the woman to check with the housing authority.
Aug. 11
- Officers helped Braddock Hills police investigate a report of gun shots but were unable to locate a source.
- Michael Formato was arrested and charged with DUI, careless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. According to the incident report, police saw Formato driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Ardmore Boulevard around 12:45 a.m. The report lists his blood alcohol content at .149 after his arrest.
- Police responded to a domestic dispute between an Ardmore Blvd. resident and her 18-year-old daughter. The daughter packed her bag and “left without incident” after her mother said she would have to give her $20 to help pay bills if she wanted to remain in the house, according to the incident report.

- After receiving a report that fireworks were being set off at Chalfant Park, officers searched the area but did not find any suspects.
Aug. 14
- Officers investigated an incident in which a group of boys allegedly threw eggs at vehicles on Filmore Road shortly before midnight. A resident’s daughter said she suspected the egg-throwers were boys who she didn’t invite to a party. Police were unable to locate the suspects.
- Police responded to a reported hit-and-run accident on Ardmore Boulevard near the municipal building. The woman whose vehicle was damaged didn’t catch the driver’s license plate and could only identify the vehicle as a small gray car.
- A Woodside Road resident reported that a small plant and a cement statue of a griffin had been stolen from his yard. The man said he’d owned the griffin for more than 25 years and had purchased it for around $300.
- An officer spoke with a Cascade Road resident who said a $25 spotlight was pulled out of his yard and broken over the night.
