Karen Sak Brings the Eastern World to Western PA
Regent Square's Karen Sak volunteers for Silk Screen Asian Arts and Cultural Organization.

Karen Sak, who moved to Regent Square in August, has been volunteering for the Silk Screen Asian Arts and Cultural Organization since 2009.
She began as an intern during her junior and senior years at the University of Pittsburgh, double majoring in communications and Japanese.
“Asian culture and languages are very different from European,” Sak said. “As soon as I heard Japanese, I loved it.”

For years, Sak has helped Silk Screen organize its annual gala event downtown, sell tickets to festivals, and promote events with posters and flyers throughout the city.
Sak, who loves her new neighborhood of Regent Square, will be posting flyers for different events around town.

“I love the people I meet at every event," Sak said. "They are so unique, and you get exposure to different cultures in a way you can’t anywhere else.”
