National Night Out, Concerts and Farmer's Markets Offer Something to Do This Week

1. National Night Out—Tuesday, Aug. 6. National Night Out is a national effort "to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back." Residents often have cookouts and events to get to know their neighbors.
2. Forest Hills Farmer's Market—1840 Ardmore Blvd., Friday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Late Bloomers Garden Club's market is held each Friday at the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church parking lot.
3. Neighborhood Yard Sale in Swissvale—Saturday, Aug. 10, at 9 a.m. More than 20 homes on Lilmont Drive, Farkas place and Jeremias Street will be holding yard sales. This is a rescheduled event.
4. Dog Wash for Charity—Animal Nature, 7610 Forbes Ave. in Regent Square, Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. The business will hold a dog wash to benefit a local charity each week. The cost is $10 per dog.
5. Tugboat's Outdoor Concert Series—105 West St. in Chalfant, Sunday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. Tom Bileck and The Sharks will be the feature act with Jerry Contouris (Drew's Restaurant) on the keyboard. Opening act "Second Chapter." Food and beverage available.
