Theft, Assault Cases Heard in Wilkinsburg Court

The latest from the district court in Wilkinsburg.

The following cases recently were heard by District Judge Kim M. Hoots in Wilkinsburg:

Neel James West, 34, of Wilkinsburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing on two counts of simple assault, one count each of resisting arrest and following too closely in a vehicle. An Allegheny County sheriff charged West April 26. According to the criminal complaint, West was tail-gating the sheriff in a school zone on the 1900 block of Laketon Rd. When backup arrived, West shoved the officers and attempted to flee. A background check produced outstanding magistrate warrants.

Angela Allen, 49, of Pittsburgh waived her right to a preliminary hearing on charges of presenting false information to police and obstructing the law. Wilkinsburg police charged Allen May 15. According to the criminal complaint, Allen gave police officers a false name after they pulled her over for driving without lights on.

Leslie Lampkin, 66 was held for court on a charge of retail theft. Wilkinsburg police arrested Lampkin May 15 at Save-A-Lot for stealing from two steaks whose value totaled $26.19, according to the criminal complaint. Lampkin has been convicted of retail theft twice in the past year.
