State Police: Route 322 Crash Sends Oil City Woman to Hospital (explorevenango.com) — State police in Franklin report that a July 6 crash on Route 322 in Cranberry Township sent an Oil City driver to the hospital and heavily damaged both vehicles. A Franklin man and his Franklin passenger in the other SUV were uninjured, and troopers say the Oil City driver will be cited for failing to stay in her lane.

Police & Fire Calls — July 11-17 (thederrick.com) — Recent 911 logs show Franklin police handled a two-vehicle crash at Washington Crossing and Elk Street, while Franklin state police assisted with other wrecks in Cranberry Township and Reno. The report also details several fires and serious crashes across Venango and Clarion counties that may affect local travel and safety awareness.

3. Franklin Woman Charged After Two-Year-Old Child Is Bitten By Dog in Sandycreek Township (explorevenango.com) — State police based in Franklin detailed several recent investigations, including charges against a Franklin woman after a toddler was reportedly bitten by a dog in Sandycreek Township. Troopers from PSP Franklin also arrested an Oil City man on drug charges and are probing a Forest County traffic stop involving suspected contraband.

The Forgotten Defenders: Venango County Historian Shines a Light on Washington, D.C.'s Civil War Saviors (explorevenango.com) — A Franklin-based Civil War historian just brought his massive collection on the often-overlooked Invalid Corps to a National Park Service event at Washington’s Fort Stevens battlefield. Bret Schweinfurth’s artifacts and research, rooted in Venango County, helped national historians and visitors better understand disabled Union soldiers’ crucial role in defending the capital.
