1. Southern Armstrong Regional Police Chief Chris Fabec bids farewell to department (triblive.com) — Freeport residents will see a change in local policing leadership as Southern Armstrong Regional Police Chief Chris Fabec steps down and Captain Hunter Tackett is promoted to chief. The regional department, created through cooperation between Gilpin, Freeport, and Ford City, credits Fabec with expanding 24-hour coverage and earning statewide recognition, and will formally pin Tackett's new badge at headquarters in Freeport.
   

2. Emergency medical services (butlereagle.com) — If you ever need an ambulance in or near Freeport, Fire-EMS is based right in town on Market Street and covers much of southeastern Butler County. This countywide directory also lists phone numbers, leaders, and coverage areas for neighboring EMS agencies, helping residents quickly find the right service in an emergency or for non-emergency medical transport.
   

3. School districts (butlereagle.com) — Families in the Freeport Area School District get a handy snapshot here, including the district's Freeport mailing address, main phone number, superintendent, and full school board lineup. It also spells out when and where monthly workshop and regular board meetings happen, so you can more easily follow decisions affecting local classrooms, budgets, and programs.
   

4. Butler Area schools on modified lockdown due to threat (butlereagle.com) — Freeport School District joined several neighboring districts in a precautionary lockdown after Butler County 911 received a threat, though state police say there's no viable danger identified yet. Troopers were dispatched to schools across their coverage area while Butler Area, Knoch, Moniteau and Freeport tightened perimeter security and kept families informed as the investigation continues.
