22 Teens Charged In Assault, Robbery At Delco Elementary School

Five teens are charged with assault, robbery, terroristic threats, and more. The others are charged with lesser crimes, police said.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Nearly two dozen teens are being charged by Haverford Township Police in connection with an assault and robbery that was caught on camera and shared online earlier this month.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at about 9:13 p.m. on Monday, June 19 at Chatham Park Elementary School at 400 Allston Road.

There, police found a 15-year-old boy with visibile injuries and barefoot.

The boy told police that six to eight teens, boys and girls, robbed him of his Yeezy slides sandals and assaulted him at the school's basketball court, police said.

Police said the boy was able to run away and was helped by a resident who called police on the 100 block of Glen Arbor Road.

Suspect descriptions were broadcast to other officers, which led them to stop several people matching those descriptions, one of whom was wearing the stolen sandals, on the 600 block of Darby Road.

Police have now charged five teens, ages 13 to 15, with aggravated assault, robbery, riot, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person, and disorderly conduct.

They are all boys hailing from both Haverford and Upper Darby townships, police said.

A sixth teen will be charged with those crimes as well when they are positively identified, police said.

Additionally, 16 other teens who saw the incident, and some who recorded it to share on social media, are being charged as well, police said.

Their charges are disorderly conduct and township ordinance violations.

The majority of the participants involved in this incident were Haverford Township residents, police said.

Police are still looking into the incident and more charges may be coming against other individuals.
