Join Newtown and Marple Historic Societies as we celebrate Marple-Newtown Historic Day and America 250,  opening 11 sites for tours and events on June 6th from 11 to 4pm. A full listing of all sites and events  can be found on Newtown Square Historical Society's  web page www.nshistory.org and Marple Historical Society web page www.marplehistorical society.org. Featured events are Massey House with tours and living history demonstrations, 1742 Square Tavern with tours and live performances inside where it happened,  at 12:30 and 2pm as patrons in 1776 learn of the signing for Independence. Paper Mill House will offer basket weaving workshop and sale, Live Music with the Time Travelers, Container Meadow Garden and Birdtown Exhibit, Art Exhibit and refreshments. Bartram Covered Bridge invites the public to sail their model boat on the Crum Creek with prizes for the most seaworthy. Octagonal School offers 1800's school experience. All sites offer tours, St Davids Church, St. Albans Episcopal Church, Friends Meeting House, Newtown Train and Trolley Museum, Hayti Cemetery, and Stoney Lonesome private residence in Marple.  Free.
