Chatham Park Elementary Gets New Principal With Jabari Whitehead

HAVERTOWN, PA – Chatham Park Elementary School in the School District of Haverford Township has a new principal in Jabari L. Whitehead, Ed.D.

Whitehead has 17 years of experience in education.

As an elementary school teacher, he taught both second and fourth grade and as an administrator, he has served as an Elementary School Principal, Middle School Assistant Principal, and High School Assistant Principal.

Whitehead has provided instructional leadership, managed student transition from elementary, middle and into high school, fostered character education and has supervised the STEM Academy for accelerated learners, the district said.

He also served as the liaison for the Johns Hopkins National Network of Partnership Schools which assists schools, districts, states, and organizations that are committed to developing strong programs of school, family, and community partnerships, according to the district.

Through his work as an elementary school principal, he was a finalist for the 2014 Target-People Magazine MLB All-Star Teachers Award, the district said.

Whitehead earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Cheyney State University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from St. Joseph’s University.

"It will be an honor to serve the highly engaged and committed teachers, students, families, as well as local partnerships that make up the vibrant learning community. I look forward to our journey together to continuously grow upon the current and future success for all learners at Chatham Park Elementary School."
