A local family trying to turn the former St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Havertown into a home have sued their contractor for negligence, deficiencies in work, fraud, and theft, according to a report by 6ABC.
Mike and Jodie Szlachta claim in a lawsuit they paid John Kuhn more than $300,000 but he later walked off the job, according to the report.
They also claim they were billed too much for subcontractors and workers damaged the property, 6ABC reports.

However, Kuhn, when contacted to by the station's investigative team, said the Szlachtas owe him money.
As the Szlachta family awaits the outcome of the lawsuit, they have reportedly hired another contractor.
