Coopertown Elementary Raises Over $2K For Texas School Affected By Hurricane Harvey

Local students in the Main Line area have recently shown their philanthropic sides by generating funds for schools affected by hurricanes.

HAVERFORD, PA – Coopertown Elementary community in the School District of Haverford Township have been busy raising money for a school in Texas that was affected by Hurricane Harvey.

After the hurricane ravaged the area, students Ellie Rayor and Grace Brown decided to help out the Kolter Elementary School in Houston.

The two students wanted to raise $2,014 to help rebuild the school's science labs and tapped into parents and fellow students to generate the funds.

After all was said and done, the efforts raised $2,664.03.

First, $750 was raised through donations by Coopertown parents at the Back to School Night.

Then, a coin drive was held in every Coopertown classroom for two weeks.

That yielded $741 from the homerooms alone.

Check out the totals from the most earning grades and rooms:

  • 1st place 4F – $789.36
  • 2nd place – 4J $275.60
  • 3rd place – 5O $191.83
