UPPER DARBY, PA — The body of a newborn child was found inside a trash bag in Upper Darby Thursday, according to reports.

Action News reports the body was found in a bag on the sidewalk by passersby at 4 p.m. at 69th and Patterson streets.

Details on the child's gender and cause of death have not been released, NBC10 reports.

Fox 29 reports Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said anyone who cannot care for a child up to 28 days old can call 911 to drop off the child at any Pennsylvania hospital or law enforcement as long as the baby is unharmed, and not a victim of any crime under Pennsylvania's Safe Haven Law.
