Delco Workers Made Coronavirus Gear For 28 Days In A Row

Employees at Braskem America in Marcus Hook lived in their work place for 28 days as a commitment to making coronavirus protective gear.

MARCUS HOOK, PA — A group of workers at a Delaware County manufacturing plant spent 28 days away from friends and family as a commitment to making gear that will protect health care workers, paramedics, firefighters, and more from the coronavirus.

Action News reports more than 40 employees at Braskem America in Marcus Hook worked for about month straight as part of the effort to combat the virus amid the pandemic.

The workers spent 12-hour shifts making polypropylene and a non-woven fiber in N95 masks, hospital gowns, and sanitary wipes.

Braskem has given the workers "enhanced employee compensation" for their work.

They were provided an onsite kitchens and supplies to sustain them as they operated the manufacturing facilities in isolation, according to Braskem.

Workers got TV breaks and drive-by visits from family during the 28-day period.
