Family Tied Up, Robbed At Gunpoint On New Year's Eve In Haverford

Police said a family was tied up then had their home and business ransacked on New Year's Eve in Haverford Township.

HAVERFORD, PA — Police in Haverford Township said men armed with guns tied up a family then robbed their home and business in Oakmont on New Year's Eve.

According to police, the incident occurred at 10:33 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Fiji Nail Salon on the 100 block of West Eagle Road.

The victim and owner of the business owner got out of his vehicle, which was parked in the rear lot of the business, and put his keys in the door to enter the business and home residence.

He then saw three men in masks and armed with handguns rush him from the back lot of the Citizens Bank branch nearby.

They forced the victim into the building and tied him up along with his family, police said.

After tying them up, the robbers ransacked the home and business, taking cash and jewelry, police said.

Eventually the family was able to free themselves and call 911.

Police said the victim suffered injuries to his head and face and was treated at a hospital.

One suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing gloves, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and Timberland-style boots with a mask covering half his face.

Another was also described as about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing gloves, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark boots, and was wearing eyeglasses.

The third suspect was also described as about 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall who was wearing eyeglasses, dark pants, sneakers, and a black hooded jacket.

All were armed with semi-automatic handguns, police said.
