Jane Hall wants to “preserve all of the good things” in Haverford Township’s 3rd Ward—the history and architecture—but also revitalize the ward and other areas of the township.
Hall, a Republican, is running in the November general election and challenging Democrat Jeff Miller for the 3rd Ward commissioner seat, which is being vacated by 3rd Ward Commissioner Robert Trumbull, who is retiring.

Hall and her husband have lived in Haverford Township for 27 years.
A licensed real estate agent for Prudential, Fox & Roach since 2003, Hall holds a license from the Pennsylvania Realtor’s Association, a bachelor of arts in communication from Villanova University, and a paralegal certificate from the American Bar Association program at Villanova.

Before working as a real estate agent, Hall was at home caring for her three children. Her son and two daughters are now grown. Hall’s first job after college graduation was working in financial services for a real estate division.
Seven years ago, Hall founded the Merion Golf Neighborhood Association. She served as the group’s president until recently when she stepped down to run for commissioner.
Hall’s involvement with Merion Golf Neighborhood Association led her to go before the Haverford Township Civic Council (which serves as the umbrella organization for the community’s civic groups) about four years ago and requested their support of Merion Golf residents’ desire to see improvements made to two nearby train stations, the Ardmore Junction and Ardmore Avenue stations.
Hall then became a community liaison with SEPTA in the effort to improve the stations.
Two weeks ago, Hall received a rendering from SEPTA showing improvements SEPTA plans to make to Ardmore Junction Station, Hall said.
As for the other station, “I believe they are planning to rebuild the Ardmore Avenue Station before the U.S. Open,” golf tournament, which is coming to the Merion Golf Club in 2013, Hall explained the Haverford-Havertown Patch.
Hall also served as vice president of the Haverford Township Civic Council but she stepped down last fall to run for commissioner. And about three years ago, she sat on the search committee to find a new director for the Haverford Township Free Library.
Hall said she decided to run for 3rd Ward commissioner because she has also been involved with the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development and wants to see the Oakmont Business District revitalized.
Another reason she’s running is she said she feels lucky to live in Haverford Township and wants to preserve what residents have and improve it.
“It’s just such a great place to live and I really feel that I have the opportunity now to give back and work with all these people that have so much energy ... It’s truly about working with people ant there’s so much enthusiasm out there ...” Hall said.
Other reasons Hall wants to be commissioner are she thinks there is updating that can be done to township ordinances and planning, and she feels it is important to prevent billboards in the township.
In the 3rd Ward, residents’ issues of concern are trying to “preserve all of the good things we have,” such as history and architecture, but also be able to revitalize the Oakmont Business District, make improvements to the Eagle Road corridor and the SEPTA stations, and update the township ordinances, Hall said.
The U.S. Open coming to the township is “an incredible opportunity for Havertown to have this international opportunity here,” Hall said, and she would like to be involved with that as a commissioner “and make it as wonderful as it can be for residents.”
Hall said people should vote for her, “Because I’m incredibly dedicated to the community … I’ve chosen to live here for 27 years. I feel incredibly fortunate to live in such a wonderful area.”
Hall said she wants to give back to the community and give the 3rd Ward strong representation.
“Strong, committed commissioners is what we need and have,” Hall said. “We have a great Board of Commissioners.”
