Haverford High School Combined Choirs Perform Sunday In Ardmore

The choirs are heading to NYC in March to put on more performances.

Haverford High School's musically inclined students paid a visit to the Ardmore Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Jan. 8 where the school's combined choirs put on an a cappella concert covering a variety of styles.

The concert first featured sets from Haverford High School’s two subgroups, the Chamber Singers and the Concert Chorale, the district said. The Combined Choirs concluded the performance. Ms. Marsha Core directed all pieces.

The students performed works by the English renaissance composer Thomas Morley, French romantic composer Francis Poulenc, and African American spiritual composer Moses Hogan.

The Combined Choirs will head to St. Patrick Cathedral and Holy Cross Church in New York City in March to perform more songs.

On April 7, the choirs will be performing with a top-ranked orchestra at the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) Eastern Division Conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Not only will they be performing together, the groups will also perform separate concerts the at conference.

The Haverford Combined Choirs have toured and performed in major cities and venues throughout the eastern United States and Canada, including the Opening Day Ceremonies at the Regional Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, US Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Md., National Cathedral in Washington, Heinz Chapel in Pittsburgh, and Old South Church in Boston, the District said.
