Cummings was visiting the woman at the time of the shooting, authorities said.

Through interviews and surveillance video, detectives learned that at about 11:45 p.m., Cummings showed up to the apartment to visit the woman.

A few minutes later, Robbins forced his way through the door and confronted Cummings, striking him and grabbing him, authorities said.

Cummings fired one shot, striking Robbins in the chest, then fled the apartment, according to the DA's office.
