Haverford Middle School Holding Musical Toy Drive For CHOP Through Dec. 9

The school is partnering with CHOP to give the gift of music to CHOP patients.

Haverford Middle School is partnering with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to collect and donate musical toys for kids being treated at CHOP.

The school is looking for donations of new toys to be donated by Dec. 9 so the toys can be delivered, sanitized, and distributed to the children at the hospital.

Toys can be dropped off at HMS choral teacher Jacqueline Langley's classroom, room 242, or all grade level offices.

"We always gave our prize money to music departments in the Philadelphia area that needed support and instruments for their programs," Langley said. "This year instead of just 7th Heaven giving back to kids, we want all of Haverford to give back in some way!"

She said the idea to donate musical toys came when she had her son at CHOP. She said he was a bit restless but when staff brought him a light up toy drum, he ended up having a fun visit the to doctor.

See the list of toys needed for donations here. While the list does not feature many musical-themed toys, Langley suggests toys such as plastic pianos, light up music making toys, and even a light up drum toy like the one that inspired her to collect the musical toys.

Any one making a donation is asked to not donate used toys; handmade cloth toys; food; used video game systems; or violent themed toys.
