Haverford Middle School Names New Assistant Principal

Matthew Crater has been with the School District of Haverford Township since 2015 and will now help transition students to sixth grade.

HAVERTOWN, PA – The Haverford Middle School has a new leader in sixth grade science teacher Matthew Crater, as he was recently appointed as the school's sixth grade Assistant Principal.

Crater joined the School District of Haverford Township in 2015 as a sixth grad science teacher and has since developed and implemented several programs that promote both student-centered academic and social growth. He was also actively involved with the district’s focus on Elements for Effective Lessons, student wellness, athletics, STEM, and scheduling.

“While I have truly enjoyed my time in the classroom, I am excited to begin this new journey. I am committed to Haverford and look forward to working with you as the 6th-grade Assistant Principal," Crater said. "My wife, Meghan, and I reside in Haverford Township and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community."

Crater earned his undergraduate degree from West Chester University in Elementary Education and a Master of Educational Leadership Degree and Principal Certification from the California University of Pennsylvania.

His teaching career began in Annapolis, Maryland, where he spent three years teaching 5th grade.

Crater's experience in the classroom will be instrumental in supporting students as they transition to 6th grade, the district said.
