Haverford Native Makes Forbes' 30 Under 30 In Education
Louise Baigelman co founded Story Shares, which encourages literacy by bringing students, teachers, and authors together.

A Haverford native and a Friends' Central School alumna has earned a spot on one of Forbes' prestigious 30 Under 30 lists for her contribution to education and literacy.
Louise Baigelman, 29, is the co founder of Story Shares, a Boston-based nonprofit organization devoted to inspiring reading practice and improving youth literacy across the United States and abroad.
“Being chosen as a 30 Under 30 for my work with Story Shares is so exciting," Baigelman said in a press release. “It means a lot to know that others in the field agree that we are on to something here. We know how much of an impact Story Shares can make, and feel energized by this vote of confidence from others.”

Story Shares helps readers in 44 states and 26 countries by providing them with the library of hundreds of books plus literacy support and social engagement features, according to Forbes. Not only does the organization help readers, writers are given a profitable publishing platform to publish age-appropriate literature. Teachers who use Story Shares can filter content by student age, reading level and genre and track progress, Forbes said.
Baigelman launched Story Shares while in her role as program manager at the Poses Family Foundation.

She earned a master’s in education from Boston University and bachelor’s degrees in English and psychology from Cornell University.
Early in her career, Baigelman was an English teacher at KIPP Academy in Lynn, Massachusetts. There, she led the English Language Learner program and taught reading and writing to middle school students. She was also a member of Teach for America Boston and a literacy coach to underserved youth in Brooklyn, New York.
