Haverford Recreation Launching Weekly Food Drives

The community is invited to drop off non-perishable food, paper products, and dog/cat food​ for delivery to food banks around the townshi​p.

HAVERFORD, PA — The Haverford Township Recreation Department is launching a weekly effort to support area residents in need amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting next week, the department is hosting food collection drives at the Haverford Reserve CREC, 9000 Parkview Drive in Haverford.

Each Wednesday, the community can drop off non-perishable food, paper products, and dog/cat food for delivery to food banks around the township. A full list of items sought is below.

Donations can be dropped off each Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., as well as from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Any items being donated should be placed in a bag or box, then put them in the back of cars or trunks.

Items needed are:

  • canned food
  • peanut butter
  • jelly
  • apple sauce
  • cereal
  • oatmeal
  • tomato sauce (not in glass containers)
  • pasta
  • coffee
  • instant rice
  • chips
  • cookies
  • pancake mix and syrup
  • paper towels
  • toilet paper
  • dish soap
  • shampoo
  • toothpaste
  • dog and cat food
