Haverford Township 2017 Budget Adopted, Contains Tax Increase

The tax increase is expected to bring in over $750,000 more for the township than 2016's rate.

The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners unanimously adopted the 2017 budget at its meeting Monday.

The budget contains a 2.67 mill property tax increase, which increases the rate from 7.785 mills to 7.993 mills.

The rate increase is expected to net the township $757,132 more than 2016's rate, with the final revenue from real estate taxes in 2017 projected as $24.47 million.

A home with an assessed value of $100,000 in the township would see a tax bill of $799.30 in 2017.

The total budget for 2017 is $48.48 million budget, which is up over $7 million from the adopted 2016 budget.

The largest expenditure for the 2017 budget is for law enforcement, with $16.54 million expected to go to police. In 2016, police accounted for $16.3 million.
