Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood held an afternoon press conference Tuesday to congratulate Tracey for calling authorities.

Tracey, a SEPTA employee, spotted the cash on his drive home from work and immediately called police, CBS news reported.

“I knew I did the right thing because in this day and age I know how valuable this money is for someone, if it was a night drop or someone leaving the supermarket. I just thought I was absolutely doing the right thing. I couldn’t keep that," he said during the press conference, according to the network.

Authorities do not know yet where the cash came from; no robberies or missing money have been recently reported, the Philadelphia Inquirer said.
