Medical Advisor: Get Your Kids Vaccinated Now

The state's Department of Health has updated its school immunization requirements for vaccines.

During Tuesday’s Delaware County Council meeting, Dr. George Avetian, the county’s senior medical advisor, explained to council members the importance of parents getting their children vaccinated, especially with the updated school immunization requirements.

The Pennsylvania State Department of Health has updated its school immunization requirements for vaccines.

The new requirements, which take effect on Monday, Aug. 1, of this year, are something that parents should take heed to, Avetian said.

“Right now is the best time for parents to contact their physicians, to review the immunization schedules and to update their child’s immunization status,” he said. “You want to avoid the end-of-the-summer/beginning-of-the-school-year rush. So at this time would be the ideal time for families to consult with their physicians.”
