The 5 Most Unique Classes at Haverford High

Minority Studies

This half-credit, one semester elective is open to students of all levels. It focuses on conflict, struggles and effects of differing societal perceptions and subcultures. Students learn about different perceptions of individuals and why certain stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination exists.

20th Century Pop Cultures

Open to students at all levels in grades 10-12, 20th Century Pop Cultures is another half-credit, one semester social studies elective. Students in this class analyze popular TV, movies, books, fashion and youth culture in order to see historical trends, philosophies and cultural values of the times.

Adult Roles

While many adults can relate to the annoyances of having to figure out money management, efficient job searching, proper meal-planning, housing and figuring out transportation in new cities, Haverford High School tries to give their 11th and 12th graders a head start by offering this class. The class is a half-credit, quarter course.

Computer Aided Drafting and Design: Invention and 3D Computer Animation

This course certainly lets students' imaginations run wild while they create, draft and design 3D computer animations. Math, Science and Art are conveyed through this course. Students learn on the same programs that were used on movies like Iron Man, Jurassic Park and Star Wars.

Fashion Design I & II

Each of these classes is a half-credit, one semester course. Fashion Design I introduces the fundamentals, figure drawing and basic techniques. It covers men's, women's and children's clothing. Fashion Design II teaches students to design, advanced figure drawing and fabric rendering. Students get to make pieces based off their designs.
