Truck Fire At Hess Station
Fire marshal says the driver of a smoking utility truck pulled into gas station.
A smoking utility truck pulled into the Hess Gas Station on West Chester Pike where it burst into flames Thursday afernoon, says the township's fire marshal.
Haverford Township Fire Marshal Jim Marino told the Haverford-Havertown Patch that the driver of the utility truck for Floors & Fireproofing Inc., a Lansdowne company, stated that he noticed that white smoke was pouring out from under the hood of the truck.
The driver then pulled into the Hess Station on West Chester Pike before 4 p.m. and then the truck burst into flames, Marino said.

The fire is under investigation and Marino said at the time he was not sure how the fire got started.
The fire burned for five minutes and it was called in by the fire chief of the who was driving by, said Marino, adding that workers at the gas station most likely called 911. They also closed the gas pumps when they noticed the truck was on fire, Marino stated.
The gas pumps are back on.
The eastbound lane was closed at one point, but as of 4:15 p.m. it was open.
Manoa Fire Co. responded to the fire.
