• Philly Teacher Leon Smith Named The ‘National Teacher Of The Year' (blackenterprise.com) — A longtime Haverford High School history and African American studies teacher in Havertown has been named the 2026 National Teacher of the Year, the first Pennsylvanian in over 20 years to earn the honor. Leon Smith’s community-focused teaching and mentoring of young men of color will now shape his national advocacy for better pay, mental health support, and more inclusive history curricula.
