• Overnight I-81 closures planned in Hazleton for I-80 bridge demolition (fox56.com) — If you drive I-81 near Hazleton at night, expect full closures in both directions from Monday, Aug. 10, through Friday morning, Aug. 14, while PennDOT demolishes part of the I-80 eastbound bridge. Detours will send traffic onto I-80 and nearby routes, so allow extra time and follow posted signs.
   

• Pilot questions deer cull at Hazleton airport (citizensvoice.com) — Hazleton residents are hearing gunshots from a state-approved deer cull at Hazleton Regional Airport, sparking concern from a longtime local pilot who questions whether killing deer is necessary or safe so close to homes and parks. Airport and city officials say the cull, backed by state and federal permits, is vital to prevent dangerous wildlife collisions with aircraft despite fencing and non-lethal deterrents.
   

• Delgadillo's homicide trial pushed to 2027 (timesleader.com) — A high-profile homicide case tied to State Police at Hazleton and Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hazleton has been delayed, with the defendant’s capital trial now pushed to at least spring 2027. Luzerne County prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, while the judge denied defense efforts to directly interview two children placed in foster care. The defendant’s wife faces related charges and a separate court date.
