Artifest a Celebration of Diversity
The wide assortment of cultures represented at the annual event gave the entire festival a feel reminiscent of the World Showcase at Epcot in Florida.
Artifest was held June 11 and 12 at the Museum of Indian Culture in Allentown, and the annual festival representative of cultures from around the world. The slightly damp weather did not keep patrons and performers from having an excellent time, and the atmosphere was one of celebration and enjoyment.
Many different and exotic ethnic foods were available for the attendees’ pleasure, such as Eastern Indian, Southern Comfort, Mexican, German and Dutch, as well as American Indian. While enjoying the refreshments visitors had the opportunity to wander around the festival grounds or sit and watch live performances, both on the main stage or over in the Renaissance Village.
The represented cultures included Pennsylvania German, English, Irish, Scottish, African-American, Ukrainian, Russian, Latino, Indian, American Indian, 18th century Colonial and Jamaican. The wide assortment of cultural representation gave the entire festival a feel reminiscent of the World Showcase at Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, and made for a great way to spend a weekend.
