Borough Offices to Be Closed Tuesday Morning

Hellertown Borough offices will be closed from approximately 9am to noon Tuesday, while staff attend the public memorial service for Freemansburg police officer Robert Lasso, .

"All requests for services will be answered promptly upon reopening," a statement from the Borough of Hellertown said. "Thank you for your understanding."

, who was shot to death while responding to a disturbance call, is expected to draw thousands of people from as far away as Ontario, Canada, to the Spartan Center at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem Township.

A funeral procession from Long Funeral Home in Bethlehem through the borough of Freemansburg to the college will precede the memorial service. That procession is expected to begin at around 9am.

Lasso was the first officer killed in the line of duty in the history of Freemansburg and the first to die in service in Northampton County since 1969, .
