On Sept. 11, 2011, remember to display an American flag outside your home, apartment, office or store. As an act of solidarity and patriotism, many Americans will be displaying flags on the tenth anniversary of one our country's worst tragedies.
Displaying the flag is a way of honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends, and loved ones, who continue to endure the pain of loss. Flying the Stars and Stripes also honors those who are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following Sept. 11, 2001, our country was covered in red, white and blue, as citizens mourned and stood together against terrorism. Our patriotism pulled us through those tough times, and our American flag remains both the fabric of our country and a powerful symbol of our shared strength.
