Rail Trail Spotter...Late Fall Riding/Walking

Its still great to use the rail trail, even in December and beyond!

So I went for a bike ride on the rail trail yesterday.  It was sunny at 12:30 pm and almost warm.  This warmness was great motivation for a ride but the trail was extra muddy for thawed dampness.  I have never seen such wet spots.  By the time I had ridden a few miles my clothes were somewhat speckled with mud!

But I really enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.  There are many health benefits to daily exercise and with an ear warmer band and a couple layers of clothes you can ride a few weeks later.  I guess that I will stop riding when the ice or snow comes!

If you are walking I imagine it would be easier to avoid wet spots and just enjoy the fall air.  The trail was full of riders, walkers, joggers and people with dogs taking in the late fall scenery.  The squirrels were very active and the stream had lots of ducks and geese honking around.

If you haven’t signed up, you still can for “Get Your Tail on the Trail” at tailonthetrail.org and take the 165 mile challenge.  I didn’t sign up to the fall but have completed over 170 miles in the past 2.5 months.  Check it out on line and get your tail out there on our lovely rail trail!
