• Berry takes silver in pickleball (altoonamirror.com) — Hollidaysburg’s Dave Berry, 79, just brought home a silver medal in singles pickleball from the Pennsylvania Senior Games at Penn State, qualifying him for the 2027 National Senior Olympic Games in Tulsa. The former Altoona High tennis standout only picked up pickleball six years ago and has already earned multiple medals at major regional tournaments.

• CDL mill legislation signed by Shapiro (timesobserver.com) — A new Pennsylvania law sharply increases fines on unlicensed CDL training “mills,” and Hollidaysburg’s state Sen. Judy Ward helped drive the effort as Senate Transportation Committee chair. Supporters say tougher penalties and proposed English-proficiency rules will improve safety by ensuring commercial truck drivers are properly trained before operating on the state’s highways.
