HATBORO, PA —The borough has gone from adding Mr. Wish to making a wish come true for new businesses that have either opened or will be in the near future.

Just a few months after adding a Mr. Wish on York Road, borough officials announced at the council's recent meeting that the downtown district is getting some fresh faces.

During her Community Outreach and Events Committee report at the June 19 council meeting, Councilwoman Nicole Reichner was proud to state that the businesses are making Hatboro their home.

The new businesses are:

  • 224 N. York Road —TIFLISI NAIL SPA – Nail Salon —under new ownership
  • 209 N. York Road —ARIELLA’S KIDS EXCHANGE —a children’s consignment shop
  • 555 N. York Road —SUNOCO —a gas station and convenience store
  • 105 N. York Road —CHINO BARBERSHOP —a barber shop under new ownership

"I'm excited that the gas station is finally up and open," Mayor Tim Schultz told Patch Monday. "It was closed for many years and then reopened and then closed again. That's a pretty important place to reopen. We didn't have too many alternatives to get gas."

The mayor also said the consignment shop is much needed in an economy where people are still struggling and is a "good way to get some quality clothes." He also said that barber shops are always great to have in a downtown community.

"The borough is so happy to welcome new businesses to downtown Hatboro," Borough Manager Diane Hegele said. "The changes to the type of business is good as well as they bring more foot traffic that not only benefits our new businesses but also the existing ones."

In late April, Mr. Wish —a natural fruit tea store —held its grand opening on South York Road.

The York Road location is one of 20 in Pennsylvania. Hatboro officials have worked to fill vacant properties over the past few years.

In the past year, Mr. Wish opened a location at 1116 Horsham Rd. in Horsham Township. Other nearby Mr. Wish locations are in Warminster, Southampton, and Abington.
