HORSHAM, PA -- The Horsham K-9 unit is really getting off the ground quickly.
Just weeks after the unit was originally approved unanimously at a township council meeting, the township received a boost to the program from local industry.
The Horsham Township Industrial and Commercial Development Authority has contributed $7,000 to help the township’s first ever K-9 unit as it launches.

The Horsham Police Department will be acquiring two Police Dogs in the coming months, officials said.
The dogs will then undergo training, which will mainly involve patrol duty as well as explosives and narcotics detection, according to Horsham ChATs.
Police are currently selecting K-9 partners for the dogs, and purchasing equipment needed for the hounds.
