HATBORO, PA — The borough's treasurer is now its latest council member.
Tom Smith was sworn in on Monday night to replace Councilman Don Hoover, the latest change on the seven-member board.
Just over a month since longtime Councilman George Bollendorf resigned, Hoover resigned in late April.
Hoover joined the council in September 2024, replacing Todd A'Harrah, who had stepped down. Hoover won re-election to council last November.
With Smith's appointment, the borough will now seek a new treasurer.
Smith has lived in Hatboro for the past eight years and has served on numerous borough boards: the Planning Commission, the Historic Commission, and the Friends of Cressbrook.
In a borough profile in 2022, Smith said that "he loves being connected to the community and helping drive the borough into the future with positive leadership.
Smith is an IT software data analyst specialist for a company based in King of Prussia. He also worked as an accountant for over 33 years.
Smith has also been involved with the Hatboro Little League, where he served as Registrar, League Information Officer, and Volunteer Coordinator.
