HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Horsham Township Council saw the promotions of two police officers at its meeting on Wednesday night.
After her work over the past years with K9 Mac, his handler, Detective Kimberly Ngo, has been promoted to detective sergeant.
Meanwhile, the Horsham Township Police Department also promoted Detective Sgt. Gloria Hatcher to lieutenant.
Both were sworn in by Horsham Police Chief Scott Fida at Wednesday night's council meeting.
Ngo has handled K9 Mac for nearly three years.
K9 Mac is only one of 119 dogs trained in the world specially trained in detecting electronic storage devices.
K9 Mac and his handler, Horsham Township Detective Kimberly Ngo in May were awarded the Montgomery County District Attorney's Commendation for Exceptional Service for their work in assisting the county's Detective Bureau's Homicide Unit with investigating a robbery and homicide in Norristown.
The duo systematically searched a large portion of a Norristown park, locating the cell phone of the homicide victim. That phone was stolen by the murderer at the time of the robbery and later discarded after fleeing the crime scene.
