An Absolute Singer

Hatboro's Absolute Music School has helped guide the budding singing career of Becky DeCarlo.

For Oreland resident Becky DeCarlo, singing is her passion.

DeCarlo has been singing with Absolute Music School in Hatboro since 2006 and her future plans include saving money to move to California to pursue singing as a profession.

DeCarlo has also done acting and modeling but wants to focus on singing. “I've known since I was 12 years old that I wanted to perform,” she said.

She regularly performs at community events with Absolute Music School, including Gilda's Club in Warminster, Warwick and Warrington Day and The Delaware Valley Veteran's Home.

Nancy Rodzwic, owner of Absolute Music School, said her students range in ages from 6 to 80. Currently, Rodzwic has students in their 70s, a few in their 40s and 50s and the rest are a "plethora of munchkins," she said.

“We work on confidence and most of all having fun while you're singing,” said Rodzwic. When talking about confidence and shyness of some students, Rodzwic responded, “They come in like a lamb and go out like a lion.”

Rodzwic attributes her students' confidence to knowing that she really cares about them. One of Rodzwic's students is currently in California and preparing to debut on the hit musical show, "Glee."

She described DeCarlo as a “marvelous child working on a singing career ... and an incredible soprano.”

DeCarlo said some have told her to try out for "American Idol," but for her, that isn't something she wants to pursue. She love all genres of music and said that she sings everything.

But who inspired DeCarlo? The Beatles are a favorite. She loved listening to the 'older' music growing up.
