HATBORO, PA —Nicole Shay is running as a Democrat for a seat on the Hatboro Borough Council in the Nov. 7 general election.

Shay, who was appointed to fill an open Borough Council seat last year, is running with Councilwomen Nicole McMenamin, and Nicole Sutton Reichner for three seats against Republican challengers Tom Rafferty, Justin Platt, and Gary Blickley.

  1. What are the top issues currently facing your position and how do you plan to address them?

I wanted to be a part of the council to help my community. My girls are older now and I am finally at a time in my life where I can start to give back. I love where I live! I want to help my community as much as I can.

2. Identify specific goals or ideas you have to enhance life in your position:

My goals are to be an asset to our community. I want to be a part of making Hatboro the best place to live and work. I would also love to see our downtown be a place that everyone wants to visit.

3. What in your experience or background prepares you for election to office?

I served on the Planning Commission and still serve as a member of the Pennypack inside committee. It is important to love where you live and have a desire to help your community.
