Emergency POD Stationed Behind Hatboro-Horsham High School

An emergency POD from the Montgomery County emergency management team is posted behind Hatboro-Horsham High School as part of the preparation for the Papal visit, according to the Horsham Police Community Services.

The POD is a trailer that contains cots, blankets, pillows, and other shelter supplies that can be used in an emergency.

Posting the POD there puts emergency teams a step ahead just in case they need to mobilize a shelter.

“If you spend any time around our Emergency Management Team, the two words you hear most often are “what if,” the police services said in a Facebook post. “Our EMA team is responsible for planning and preparing our Township for what both man and nature through at us.”

In a true emergency, authorities explained, the POD may not be able to moved from the Township Garage to its needed location. This is why it’s in place ahead of time.

The community police services also explained the POD had nothing to do with the early dismissal of Hatboro-Horsham schools.
