Some residents expressed concerns about the danger of the current layout of the road and the bridge.

“That road is an accident waiting to happen,” said one local resident, who only gave his first name of James. “I usually take that road to get home and it’s so narrow with only deep ditches on the side. No way to avoid an accident, really. Really poor road planning, in my opinion.”

The bridge, owned by the county, will require at least two months for repairs once a contractor is selected.

That work cannot start until mid-March at the earliest, due to weather restrictions on construction placed by the state Department of Transportation for road and bridge work.
