
HORSHAM, PA -- Horsham Township has been named one of the safest cities in Pennsylvania for 2016, according to recently released FBI statistics.
Horsham Township ranked in the the top 40 out of 2,562 municipalities in Pennsylvania on the FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report.
Each town was scored based on violent and property crime data.

The score factors included population size, murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies, motor vehicle thefts and arsons.
"The study reported that Horsham Township Community policing efforts is the philosophy behind their very low crime rate," Township Manager William Walker said in a statement. "Horsham Township offers a variety of programs that support communication between the Police Department and community. A couple of examples are the ChAT’s program and the Citizen Police Academy. The ChAT’s program is an organized effort to get the citizens of Horsham more involved with their community. The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 10 week course that educates residents on a variety of day to day Policing Duties."

“On behalf of Horsham Council we are pleased to be ranked one of the safest cities in Pennsylvania," President Deborah Tustin stated in a Facebook news release. "We believe this is really from the efforts of our Police Department and Community to ensure Horsham is not only a great place to live but a safe place to live.”
