Overnight Fire Damages Child Center at Abington YMCA

An overnight fire at the Abington YMCA caused damage to a child care area in the facility.

According to Abington YMCA, the small fire happened in Kids Zone room located on the Old York Road side of the building.

“The fire was quickly contained and there were no injuries,” the Abington YMCA said on its Facebook page.

All programs are running as scheduled Tuesday except childcare and babysitting.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the fire broke out around 4 a.m. and was declared under control 40 minutes later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
